Penang Bridge Run


Time to " Strut" your muscle at Penang Bridge Run
If you are avid runners, then you've come to the right place. Penang is a host to
multi international events which also includes Penang Bridge Run. A popular annual
event for local as well as foreigner since its inception in 1985.

The run which incorporates a full marathon, half marathon & a quarter-marathon has
attracted thousands of local as well as international participants. You'll be running
along a scenic coastal highway in a cool breeze morning and can enjoy the
captivating view of the spectacular architecture of the Penang Bridge.
During the run, the bridge will be closed to public and normally it will be organized on
Sunday morning where traffic is usually at its lowest.

T-Shirt will be given to all. However Certification of Participation, Medals except
some promotional prizes (for schools participation) will be given provided you can
finish the run within the stipulated time of 6 hours (Marathon), 3 hours (Half
Marathon) & 90 min (Quarter Marathon). There is also a lucky draw to be given out
for the "Lucky ones"

Cash prizes will be given for top 10 participants which are break into few categories.
Please note that all prizes are in RM (Ringgit Malaysia)
The run is open to participant above 13 years old and the age group is break into 11
categories:

Full Marathon:
1. Men's Open - 18 to less than 40 (Dist. 42.195Km)
2. Women's Open - 18 to less than 35 (Dist. 42.195Km)
3. Men's Veteran - 40 and above (Dist. 42.195Km)

Half Marathon:
4. Men's Open - 16 to less than 40 (Dist. 22.3Km)
5. Women's Open - 16 to less than 35 (Dist. 22.3Km)
6. Men's Junior Veteran - 40 to 49 (Dist. 22.3Km)
7. Men's Senior Veteran - 50 and above (Dist. 22.3Km)
8. Women's Veteran - 35 and above (Dist. 22.3Km)

Quarter Marathon:
9. Boys - 13 to less than 15 (Dist. 10Km)
10. Girls - 13 to less than 15 (Dist. 10Km)

Fun Run:
11. Open - 13 and above (Dist. 10Km)
The actual date for the run will be advertise on local newspaper as well as in this
website. Usually the run will be held in the month of July but the closing date for
application will be 1 month earlier.

So remember to come back to this website often, as I will provide you with the
updated information on the event and how & where you can submit your application
forms.

Latest News! The Penang Bridge Run 2008 has been cancelled due to financial and
manpower constraints. Also, because of the ongoing renovation work, the organisers
will not be able to ensure the safety of participants on the bridge, which is narrower
now.
