| | JANUARY
- Visit Malaysia Year 2008. A welcome reception at main entry point - Airport,
Seaport & Railway Stations.
- Thaipusam festival on 23rd Jan - A fascinating Penang events for Hindu
which includes a parade of purification and cleansing ritual. The parade starts from Chettier Temple, Penang Street to Waterfall Temple.
FEBRUARY
- Chinese Lunar New Year on 7th & 8th - The arrival of Chinese Lunar New
Year is celebrated in Penang most famous landmarks at Armenian Street, Cannon Street & Chulia Street. There will be open house celebration organised by Penang Clan Council. Contact: 012-4788302.
- Chap Goh Mei, also known as Chinese Valentine’s day celebrated on the 15th
day of Chinese lunar new year at 21st of February to mark the end of the festival. There will be customary orange throwing events at the Esplanade (Padang Kota Lama). Chinese girl would throw oranges into the sea scooped by boys as a gesture of hope to wed good husbands.
- The Colors Of Spring, 15th Feb to 13th March - Art exhibition by Penang art
associations. Venue at Balai Seni Lukis Negeri at Dewan Sri Pinang. Open 9am to 5pm.
MARCH
- F1 Roadshow, 7th to 9th March at Highway Auto City - In conjunction with
the Petronas Grand Prix 2008, a showcase of racing cars will be displayed in this Penang events. Organised by Auto City 1688-F8 at North South Highway Juru Interchange. Email: golden@hughwayautocity.com.my
- Penang Shanghai World Star Quest 2008 - Organised by Juru Auto City.
- Penang Extreme Games, 17th to 18th March at Youth Park, Penang - A
variety of physically challenging sports event. Organised by MPPP.
- Star Education Fair, 1st to 2nd March - The Star Education Fair is set
to return in 2008, promising to be bigger and better than previous editions. The event will be held on Jan 12 and 13 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), and will then move up north to the Penang International Sports Arena on March 1 and 2. The country’s premier education fair is all geared to pull in the crowd, occupying all five halls at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). Already, close to 180 local and foreign exhibitors have signed up, taking up 400-plus booths.
APRIL
- Thinyang & Songkran Festival at Burmese Temple & Thai Temple. Thais arms
with water sprays, hoses and buckets give each other good water dousing which signifies blessing. A Thais New Year celebrated here as part of Penang events and festivals.
- Vasakhi open house and Sikh expo at New World Park - Gain an insight onto
the believe, culture and practice of the Sikh community. There will be some Penang event and festivals program perform by the Sikh community.
- International Arts Festivals, at Dewan Sri Gallery - An exciting Penang
events that engaged all the community through universal language of arts. Organised by Penang State Museum.

- Penang International Flora Festival at Penang Botanical Gardens.
Participant from overseas, government agencies, private sectors and local councils participate in this annual Penang event and festivals that showcases the beauty & awe-inspiring parade of flora. Workshop, contest and classes related to botanic are held.
- Wesak Day at Malaysia Buddhist Association (Jalan Burmah) on 19th May -
Devotees throngs the temples and a grand parade is staged to celebrate the birthday of Buddha.
- Penang World Music Festival on 2 ~ 4 May at Quarry Garden - A great
place for music lovers to get a first hand musical experience from local & international musicians amid the resounding rhythms of nature. Organised by Penang Tourism. Contact: 04-2620202.
JUNE
- Annual Horse Show, 31/5 to 3/6 at Penang Turf Club. A carnival with an
exhibition of different breed of horse and equine products. The 4 days of dressage, shoe jumping and carriage driving competition to help promote interest in the sport. Organised by Penang Turf Club. Contact: 04-2293233.
- Auto City Carnival, 6th to 8th June at Highway Auto City - Featuring sports
car shows & parades, competitions, pageants and more. Organised by Juru Auto City 1688-F8 at North South Highway Juru Interchange.
- Penang International Dragon Boat Festival on June/July at Teluk
Bahang Dam - Rowers from local and all over the world participates in this ultimate international championship. Watch out for the parade of "Dragon" conquering the sea. - Penang Bridge Run, Sunday 24th June - Annual Penang events that attract
locals as well as foreigner. Participants will be running over the third longest bridge in the world along a scenic coastal highway. The run incorporates a marathon, a half-marathon and a quarter-marathon. More, click here!
JULY
- Governor of Penang Birthday. A grand parade are held at the Esplanade and
Dewan Sri Pinang during this period to commemorate his Excellency birthday.
- MATTA International Travel Fair, 4 ~ 6 July at Penang International Sports

- Penang Bon Odori Charity Carnival at Esplanade (Padang Kota Lama). A
traditional Japanese festival with dance and drum performances held to welcome the homecoming of ancestral spirit. This exciting Penang events is also held to expose locals to part of Japanese culture. There will be variety of Japanese food & drinks serve to all guest couple with some art and dance events.
- St. Anne Festival, 27th July at Bukit Mertajam - A 9 day annual festival for
pilgrims to pray for good health and blessings from St Anne, the grandmother of Jesus Christ. More...
- Penang Beach Carnivals at Batu Ferringhi - The one-week carnival features
food promotions, inter-hotel competitions, seaside festivities, cultural shows, fashion parades, telematches and parties.
AUGUST
- Nation Wide Mega Sale - A month of wonderful bargains and excellent
discount to thrills shoppers.
- 51st Malaysia Independence Day at Padang Kota Lama. On the eve 30th
there will be grand sparkling fire works on display. At the 31st (Independence Day) a parade and a host of performance are staged to commemorate the important day. Contact: 04-2621957.
- Penang Biathlon 2008, 5th August at Penang Municipal Park - A test of

- Penang Mid Autumn 2008, 25/9 to 25/10 at Kuan Yin Temple - A fascinating
exhibition of lanterns of all shapes and sizes as well as a lantern making contest is held in conjunction with the Mid-Autumn Festival. This Penang events are celebrated by Chinese community. - Hari Raya Open House on the 1st. There will be a traditional open house to
welcome guest from all races and some displays of cultural performance.
- Deepavali Open house at Little India on 27th. Join the celebration of
lights with the Indian community.
- Penang Lantern Festival, 1st to 31st Dec at Auto City, Juru. Lanterns from

DECEMBER
- Pesta Pulau Pinang, 1st to 31 Dec at Pesta Site - A month long full fair with

- Starwalk at Penang International Sports Arena. The oldest sporting events in
Penang. Adult, children and even elderly participate in this annual event. A grand Penang event and festivals not to be miss. Organised by The Star Publication. Contact: 04-2624361.
- Penang Island Jazz Festival, 4th to 7th Dec at Bayview Beach Resort - Jazz
music performing acts with over 50 local and international performers. Organised by Capricorn Connection. Contact: 03-20934725.
- Chingay Procession at Padang Kota Lama. A parade of giant flags, lion and
dragon dances, acrobats, and dozens of decorated floats taking to the streets amidst the beating of gongs and drums. Held as part of Chinese New Year festivities, it was one of the most decorative Penang event and festivals.
- Countdown on 31st Dec 2008 to usher New Year at Gurney Drive,
Esplanade, Juru Auto City & Georgetown.
